IS UNIVERSAL CAR RENTAL A LOCAL COMPANY?

UNIVERSAL Car Rental is a car rental company that is based in Crete Greece. We have been in this business for more than 30 years and have built our success and reputation on customer satisfaction.

HOW CAN I BOOK A CAR?

Just follow the easy steps on the “Home or car fleet” page. Select the pickup and delivery location, the date and time of arrival and return, and you’ll instantly see the cars available for the period you requested. On the same page you will also find the cost for the entire period for all available cars. On the next page you will be able to select additional additional services such as equipment, personal accident insurance and other services.

You will then see the order confirmation page, where you will be asked to accept our terms and conditions and provide the necessary personal information regarding your booking.

A deposit is required to complete your booking. Once your payment has been approved, a final confirmation/document will be emailed to you.

Please ensure that the email address you enter is correct and that the amount for the deposit is available in your account; you will receive the voucher in 1-3 days.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY CAR RESERVATION?

You can pay with the most common credit cards, such as Visa and MasterCard. A small deposit is required when booking a rental car online. This is for your protection and for your benefit. The deposit guarantees that the selected car category will be available at the place and time requested. Some car rental companies do not require a deposit at the time of booking, but at the same time they do not guarantee that they will have your vehicle available at the place and time you requested.
When your booking is confirmed, the deposit will be deducted from your account. Please ensure that the amount for the deposit is available in your account. The outstanding balance must be paid in full by credit card or cash upon delivery of the rental vehicle.

The credit card used to pay the balance must be in the driver’s name. Cash payments are normally accepted. As UNIVERSAL Car Rental is located in a European Union country, the booking fee and deposit are made in Euros, the currency of the country.

Please note: we do not accept prepaid or electronic cards, travel cards, nor Visa Electron or Maestro.

No! You have Unlimited mileage with every rental!

CAN I PICK A SPECIFIC CAR MODEL?

Although we try to satisfy your wish, we cannot guarantee a specific model, only the selected car category.

WHAT DOES THE RENTAL PRICE INCLUDES?

Your rented car is protected with Premium Insurance! The customer is fully relieved of responsibility for any damages. You have full coverage and don’t have to worry about any additional hidden costs. You are fully protected, including coverage for any damages, even to the underbody, tires, and windows. In the event of damage or theft of the car, you will not have to pay any additional fees as long as the car is used in accordance with the terms and conditions defined by the law in Greece.

WHAT DOES PREMIUM INSURANCE  INCLUDES?

-F.C.D.W : Your rental is protected with Full Collision Damage Waiver (F.C.D.W). You are fully relieved of any responsibility for damage to the company’s vehicle resulting from an accident. At the rental pick-up, you will not be asked to pay for any extras.

Third Party Insurance: Covers third-party bodily injuries per accident up to 1,000,000 Euros. Third-party property damages per accident (excluding rented car) up to €1,000,000.

Theft Protection InsuranceThe renter is not held responsible in case the rental car is stolen. Stolen personal items belonging to the renter are not covered. Notice: Theft Protection (T.P.) is not valid in cases of renter’s negligence or culpability, for example, leaving car keys in the car’s ignition.

Fire Insurance:The renter is not responsible in case the rental car is damaged due to a fire or natural disaster.

Wheels & Underside Insurance: The renter is not responsible for any damage to the rental car’s wheels and/or underside parts in case of an accident. Notice: Wheels & Underside Insurance is not applicable for off-road driving and negligent behavior.

-Glasses & Windows Insurance: The renter is not responsible in case the rental car’s glasses and/or windows are damaged due to an accident and/or theft attempt.

WHAT’S PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE ?

P.A.I. (Personal Accident Insurance) is an optional extra that covers the driver of the rented car for injuries up to a limited amount. As most travel insurance already provides this type of protection, it may not be necessary for some clients. Consult your travel insurance agent for detailed information on this type of coverage. If you need P.A.I, you can add it while booking your vehicle.

WHAT IF I LOST MY CAR KEYS?

All our car keys are chip encoded and replacing them is costly and time consuming. In the event of lost keys, you will be charged 100- 200 euros (depending on the car model) plus any transport costs in order to receive the replacement keys.

CAN I PICK UP MY CAR AT OTHER PLACES THAN YOUR OFFICES?

IS MY PERSONAL DATA SAFE?

All online orders are processed securely using 128-bit encryption. The information you submit will only be used by www.universal-carrental.com and its partners to communicate with you regarding your order or future offers and will not be sold to or shared with any third parties.

WILL I BE CHARGED EXTRA FOR TAXES?

All Local taxes and VAT are included in the price.

CAN I GET MY CAR AFTER NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS?

Working (Office) Hours: From 08:00am to 22:00 hours.

The service for night deliveries after working hours has an additional cost of 20.00 euros. At most locations cars can be delivered outside normal working hours. There may be an additional charge for this service, which you will see during the booking process.

HOW WILL I GET MY CAR?

You will find detailed information on how to collect your car on the booking confirmation form.

The most common delivery method is at the airport.
A UNIVERSAL Car Rental representative will meet you at the airport – usually holding a sign with your name on it – take you to your vehicle and give you instructions on how to get to your destination. If you have chosen to pick up your car from a hotel, your car will be delivered there.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT WHEN RENTING A CAR?

The minimum age for renting a car is 23 years and the maximum is 75 years. Higher vehicle types may require that the driver be over 23 years of age. Detailed information will be found under the “General Terms and Conditions”.

HOW CAN I MODIFY OR CANCEL MY RESERVATION?

If you want to change your reservation, you must do so via the MODIFY/CANCEL RESERVATION  page. First enter your email address as your user ID and your booking reference number (order ID) as your password. You will then see the details of your reservation. In the comment field that then appears, you can enter the changes you would like to make to your booking.

As soon as you have sent your request, you will receive a change confirmation number from UNIVERSAL Car Rental. If the change results in a price difference, you will need to make a new booking and cancel the original booking. The deposit will be refunded if we receive the change at least 7 days before the date of receipt. For later changes, an amendment fee of up to 50 euros will be charged.

If you wish to cancel your reservation, you must do so via the MODIFY/CANCEL RESERVATION page. The procedure is the same as for changes. Cancellations received 7 days (168 hours) or more before arrival will not be charged and the payment made will be refunded. If the cancellation is received less than 7 days (168 hours) before your arrival, your payment will be retained by UNIVERSAL Car Rental as compensation, up to a maximum of 50 euros.

Changes after the collection of your vehicle involving a change of vehicle type or an extension of the rental period may be accepted, subject to availability. Additional charges may apply. No refunds will be granted if the required documents, such as the driver’s license, are not presented, if the vehicle is returned early or if the rental is cancelled after the start of the rental period.

DO YOU CHARGE EXTRA FOR ADDITIONAL DRIVER?

The first additional driver is free of Charge!
For more drivers there is an extra charge of 3€/day of rental. Each additional driver must appear at the rental counter together with the main renter and must present a valid driver’s license and sign the rental agreement.

At all stages of your booking you will see the price of the car rental as well as the cost of any extras that may apply.

HOW CAN I PICK UP MY RENTAL CAR?

Your car rental provider will be waiting for you at the airport office, at the port, at our office or at the reception of your hotel, depending on the choice you made during the booking process.
Delivery of the rental vehicle can be made at the airport counter, with a representative of the car rental company waiting for you with your name/car rental company name on a sign, or with a shuttle service to the nearest car rental station.
When you pick up your car from a hotel, the car will be delivered there or the shuttle service will take you to the nearest rental station. For certain destinations, a car delivery and/or return charge may apply and you will be advised of these charges at the time of booking, if applicable.

IF I RETURN THE CAR HALF AN HOUR LATE WILL I BE CHARGED AN EXTRA DAY?

The rental period is calculated on a 24-hour basis. You can return the car up to 1 hour later than you picked it up without being charged for an extra day. After that you will be charged for an additional day. For detailed information, please refer to the terms and conditions.
