Agios Nikolaos City

Unlike all the other cities of Crete, Agios Nikolaos manages to combine a relaxed and yet bustling place. Lake Voulismeni, the jewel of the town and one of its attractions, is known for its many legends, according to one from Greek mythology, Athena and Artemis bathing in its waters. The freshwater lake becomes one with the sea through a narrow channel and is surrounded by red rock formations and lush vegetation. Around the lake, there are several bars and restaurants that make the place quite lively at night. Don’t forget to visit the Archaeological Museum and the Folk Art Museum of Agios Nikolaos.
